Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

This class includes the necessary skills, techniques and content to successfully participate in the movements of yoga.

Learning Goals:   Intentions:1.Learn and practice Breath work (pranayama) and how to use it daily2.Learn and practice yoga postures (Asana)3.Learn an overview of the history, philosophy, benefits of yoga and discover that yoga is more then a fitness program4.Learn and practice relaxation techniques such as meditation, final relaxation (savasana) visualizing, focusing, centering, and self–awareness, mantras and affirmations5.Learn both English and Sanskrit names of most poses, example Tadasana (Mountain)6.Learn and practice Karma yoga 7.Learn and practice Partner and Group yoga activities8.Learn and practice simple chants such as the OM and other simple chants 9.Learn and discuss the many Health Benefits of yoga 10.Learn and discuss how to use yoga everyday in different situations
