Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:
- Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
- Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
- Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
- Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)
If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.
PHY 175: Project Lab: Getting Started
On Research
1 credit
Students will be introduced to experimental techniques, tools, resources, and lab safety. Students will conduct the full lifecycle of an experimental project and learn how to properly disseminate their results.
Learning Goals
Students will develop the tools that they need to be successful in laboratory and research environments. Specifically:Students will demonstrate the ability to perform physics experiments safely Students demonstrate correct use of basic laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, DACs, etc. Students demonstrate the ability to program computers to access and manipulate external data. Students will complete the entire lifecycle of a simple project, including how to propose an idea, find references and use the library, write clear and concise reports, how to generate useful figures, and other graphics.
