Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:
- Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
- Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
- Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
- Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)
If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.
BUS 252: Legal And Ethical Environment
Of Business
3 credits
This course examines the nature and impact of law and ethics on the domestic and international operations of a business enterprise. The law is studied as an instrument of social change. Specific attention is paid to regulatory agencies, unions and labor relations, antitrust, consumer affairs, environmental impact, and contracts. The course also addresses the relationship of ethics to profit, social responsibility, government relations, and the role of business in society.
Learning Goals
Upon completion of this course, the successful student should be able to:• Understand the U.S. legal system and how it is applied to the business environment.• Develop an ethical mindset pertinent for sound business decision making.• Aquire a basic knowledge of the specific areas of law that affect business.• Gain an understanding of alternative methods of solving buisiness disputes (ADR)• Recognize the pertinent international challenges that confront business in the 21st century.• Gain an insight into the regluartory environment and its impact on business.• Utilize case analysis to enhance critical thinking/analytical skills• Enhance all forms of communication• Recognize the emerging trends in business law and how these trends might impact business decision making.
