Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

• Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
• Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
• Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
• Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

SPA 332: Survey Of The Literature Of Hispanic America

3 credits

Students examine major works (in whole or in part) of Hispanic American literature and the aesthetic and historical climate in which they were created, as well as formal aspects of their form and content and their relevance to European or Hispanic American literary traditions. Learning Goals

The principal objectives of this course are to help the student discover and understand certain aspects of, and approaches to, literature in general and to the particular characteristics of Hispanic American literature. Homework assignments should be undertaken while keeping in mind how in all cases language can reveal and define an individual talent as much as a national culture, including the collective thought processes, belief systems and weltanschauung of a people. As part of the survey, the student should examine the trajectory of evolving literary genres, structural forms and content, and consider details of language, imagery, technique, etc.
