COM 303: Pre-Production Workshop

3 credits

Advanced production students will develop aesthetic plans for a major media project, which they will complete during the following semester in the Advanced Production Workshop class. Each student will develop a script and devise a plan for the cinematography, the art direction and sound score of the piece.

Learning Goals

The goal of the course is to prepare production students to embark on a major production project. This will include creation of a “shootable” script and the planning for the art direction, scoring and cinematography to be used in the staging, shooting and editing of the script. Great projects grow out of great planning. This course aims to train students in how to plan for a production. The dominate learning goals guiding the course are sharpening communications skills and the ability to express oneself artistically.
