Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:
- Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
- Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
- Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
- Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)
If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.
COM 430: Video II
3 credits
Students will expand their production skills in technical and aesthetic terms. Class will discuss cinematic and dramatic choices in successful films. Through a series of exercises, students will build competency in new computer programs including Livetype and Soundtrack. Each student will complete a final project of his or her choosing.
Learning Goals
Learning to express your artistic vision through film requires a thorough understanding of the technology, process, and language of cinema. In this course, students will further develop their skills and confidence with digital filmmaking equipment by working with a variety of digital cameras, prime lenses, a range of lighting equipment, and more. Through in-class exercises, discussions, and screenings students will expand their knowledge and appreciation of the diverse modes of cinematic expression. Students will create short films through both collaborative and individual video projects. Through this process students will further discover and actualize how to express their personal creative voices through film.
