Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.


MTH 243: Calculus III

4 credits

Multivariable calculus, partial derivatives, multiple integrals, introduction to vector analysis. Infinite series.Learn the calculus of vector-valued functions. Differentiate and integrate parametrically defined functions with interpretations of velocity, acceleration, arclength and curvature. Perform iterated, double, triple and surface integrals with change of coordinates. Use vector fields, line integrals, Green’s theorem, curl and divergence, and Stokes’ theorem.

Learning Goals

Students shall: learn the properties of vectors in two and three dimensions express equations and functions in polar, cylindrical and spherical coordinates be able to find velocity, acceleration, arc length and curvature of vectorvaluedfunctions in two and three dimensions be able to evaluate partial derivatives and multiple integrals be able to evaluate line and surface integrals be able to find velocity, acceleration, arc length and curvature in two and threedimensions be able to apply the techniques of vector analysis to vector fields
