Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:
- Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
- Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
- Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
- Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)
If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.
PFA 180: Vocal Production
2 credits
This is the second of four required theatre voice courses, building upon techniques explored in 0192-130, and continuing to train for safe usage, but expanding into new areas: diaphramatic breathing, projection and the development of the strength necessary to perform in large spaces. Learning Goals
0192-180: MECHANICS OF VOCAL PRODUCTIONStudents will:1) build upon the personal investigation of vocal freedom discovered in the first semester by exploring greater vocal energies, dynamics, and power and how they parlay into text;2) learn processes leading to the opening of the channels of communication as physical and psychological tensions release; 3) learn basic techniques for preserving the health and longevity of the instrument and to increase control, quality, variety and freedom of the voice.
