Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.


BUS 162: Business And Society

3 credits

This course provides an interdisciplinary perspective on the role of business in society. It introduces the major functional areas of business, including accounting, finance, production, operations, marketing, human resources, and information/technology as well as all of the business learning goals. Key issues regarding success in work and life are explored. (Distribution Reqs:Social Sciences)

Learning Goals

Upon completion of this course, the successful student should be able to:-Define and describe basic business principles and concepts, and understand how they apply to the contemporary business world-Explain how to start and run a business, and identify resources available to business owners and managers-Address business issues such as governance, entrepreneurship, leadership, motivation, management, marketing, accounting and finance.-Discuss how globalization, social responsibility, ethical standards, and technology are transforming business operations.
