Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.


BUS 251: Business Law II

3 credits

An advanced course in business law covering the application of the legal process and the law of contracts to the specific contracts of bailments, agency, guaranty and suretyship, insurance, and partnerships and corporations. Detailed consideration is given to wills, states of decedents, and bankruptcy.

Learning Goals

The student at the end of course should:1. Possess a basic understanding of the fundamental principles of commercial law, sales law, agency, partnerships and business organizations.2. Possess the technical vocabulary necessary to understand an d utilize various legal principles in business and professional affairs;3. Be able to analyze legal problems and cases involving common business transactions and to correctly apply the appropriate legal principles;4. Have the skill to recognize the legal implications of situations which one may encounter with regard to the substantive areas discussed;5. Be able to relate the fundamentals of business law to other fields (e.g., Marketing, Personal Management), and to apply the legal principles as may be needed, and6. Recognize under what circumstances further legal aid and advice should be sought.
