Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.


HRM 367: Management Of Human Resources

3 credits

This course examines the personnel/human resource function in private and public organizations from a manager's viewpoint. Topics include recruiting, interviewing, employment, wage and salary administration, management development, performance appraisal, job evaluation and design, manpower planning, training, unions, labor relations, equal opportunity, and other current issues and topics.

Learning Goals

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:• Describe what it means for human resource management to be “strategic”.• Understand a manager’s role in supporting various human resource functions, such as staffing, training, and compensation. When given scenarios of problems related to managing human resources that a manager could encounter, you should be able to provide a best practice or provide several possible approaches.• Understand the human resources department’s role in creating and supporting an organization’s human resources policies and practices.• Understand how executive compensation is determined.• Describe the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for a career in which you are interested.
