Course Search


Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Learning Goals

Scholarship: • Through class participation and selected readings, the student will be able to discuss current trends and issues that are impacting the physical education profession. Reflective Practice:• Through practical teaching experiences and self-assessment, students will be able to clearly define his/her own strengths and weaknesses as a physical educator. Each student will be able to analyze his/her own teaching behavior, using specific analytic tools, thoughtful planning, develop appropriate assessment strategies and through reflection and reflective writing, make appropriate decisions for change. Social Justice:• Students will develop and implement lessons that demonstrate advocacy for all of their students regardless of cultural, gender and economic differences. Inclusive Community:• Through the development and implementation of lessons in physical education class, students will have the opportunity to write and refine appropriate lesson objectives, lesson criteria, and assessment. Each student will be required to demonstrate their ability to make appropriate provisions for students with diverse learning needs, differences or varying abilities. Wellness:• Through the development and implementation of lessons in physical education class, students will be required to demonstrate their ability to promote learning environments that model safe and healthy group interactions and reinforce cooperative behavior and good character by all. Creativity & the Arts:• Through the development and implementation of lessons in physical education class, students will incorporate the ideas of cooperative, peer, social responsibility and inquiry concepts planning into practice that offer their students the opportunity to be creative and express individuality.
