Course Search


Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.


PED 525: Curriculum And Methods In Physical Education

3 credits

This course is intended to encourage a reflective approach to teaching and curriculum design. Special attention will be given to the identification and adoption of appropriate teaching behaviors related to effective teaching research.

Learning Goals

Scholarship: Students will be able to discuss current trends and topics impacting physical education as a result of class readings and teaching experiences. Students also will be able to identify resources to increase their knowledge and understanding of issues associated with physical education.Reflective Practice: Students will be able to assess their own teaching behaviors and identify their strengths and weaknesses. Students will engage in discussions regarding their teaching behaviors and identify ways to improve their effectiveness.Social Justice: Students will design lessons with objectives that promote success for all regardless of gender, race, ability, or cultural backgrounds.Inclusive Community: Students will develop lesson plans and unit plans that will allow all students, regardless of learning needs, differences, or abilities, to participate and reach lesson objectives. Wellness: Students will develop lesson plans that will highlight the value and importance of physical activity and fitness within each of the three learning domains – psychomotor, cognitive, and affective.Creativity and the Arts: Students will discuss and develop activities using various teaching styles including peer teaching and problem solving. Students will display creativity and artistic ability in developing visual aids and task sheets to accompany their peer teaching episodes.
