Course Search


Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.


PES 228: Fitness Fundamentals I I

1 credit

Students have an opportunity to choose from a variety of activity courses designed to introduce them to a new sport or lifetime skills. The activities carry 1 credit for semester's work and 2 credits for the full semester.

Learning Goals

OBJECTIVES:Students will be able to:1. Obtain a higher awareness for the different fitness activities that improve aerobic capacity, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition2. Apply different body movements to various physical activities (i.e. sports)3. Demonstrate a knowledge about healthy nutrition and food habits4. Incorporate various equipment with specific physical activities5. Gain a better understanding of how physical/fitness activities can improve a person’s lifestyle in the following areas: health, social, psychological, and physical improvements.
