Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.


AUD 501: Advanced Audiology

3 credits

Theoretical and practical aspects of audiologic assessment. The standard audiometric battery (pure tone air and bone conduction testing, speech testing, and acoustic immitance testing): administer tests to interpret test results. Current ASHA documents: scope of practice of audiology; practice patterns in audiology; and guidelines for audiometric assessment and screening.

Learning Goals

At the end of the course, students will be able to:1. Identify professional requirements in audiology including NYS licensure and ASHA certification.2. Identify the components and appropriate procedures for conducting standard audiometric testing for specific populations.3. Interpret results from standard audiometric testing for specific populations.4. Perform and interpret cochlear and retrocochlear behavioral site-of-lesion tests.5. Identify ASHA guidelines for audiometric assessment and screening.6. Outline basic clinical recommendations based on audiometric data.
