Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.


NUR 476: Integration Seminar III

1 credit

Third in a sequence of courses designed to engage students in progressively higher level critical thinking and clinical decision making. Through a case-study approach, students integrate and apply nursing knowledge and skills using clinical scenarios. Cases focus on content consistent with co-requisite nursing theory courses, building on previous knowledge.

Learning Goals

Upon completion of this course, thestudent will:1. Analyze case based patientscenarios by organizing assessmentdata, formulating nursing diagnosesand determining appropriateevidence-based nursinginterventions.2. Develop organizational andprioritization skills when planningnursing care.3. Utilize informatics and multiple dataresources to plan holistic nursing carefor patients using case studies.4. Formulate appropriate nursingdiagnoses which reflect anunderstanding of pathophysiology,pharmacology, medical managementand nursing management.5. Demonstrate critical thinking andclinical reasoning skills whenformulating and implementing a plan of care6. Discuss personal influences on theability to deliver care to patients.7. Recognize cultural and personalinfluences on the patient’s views andresponses to health, illness, and plans ofcare.8. Plan evidence based care thatreflects patient and familypreferences with an emphasis onsafety and quality; citing sources ofevidence for planned interventions.9. Incorporate best evidence and bestpractices in planning care usingcase studies.10. Discuss uses of information technologyas a tool for communication when analyzing case based patient scenarios.11. Demonstrate behavior consistent withthe ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses andANA Scope and Standards of Practice.12. Describe and apply ethical and legalconsiderations relevant to the holisticcare of clients.13. Compare the roles and perspectives ofthe nursing profession with otherhealthcare professionals.14. Use professional communicationskills and collaboration with otherstudents to plan evidence-based,patient-centered care.
