Description:

In this course, students will analyze sources focusing on the conceptualization of the idea of race. This course will look at race discourse from 1492 to the present, particularly from scholars and politicians, leaders who had the ability to shape the rhetoric of race. The critical question is, how do people (and science) of different regions and classes shape the concept of "race"? (Distribution Reqs:Social Sciences)
