Students will explore the history of machine-intelligence interfaces prior to the so-called “cybernetic age;” digital computing’s inauguration of the digital age and its relationship to neoliberalism; as well as posthuman, techno-skeptical, and techno-utopian assessments of the world to come, including notions of the singularity and AI hegemony.  Students will also use AI to generate art, arguments, and theories about, among other things, machine learning and neural networks.
