Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

Learn in detail about the structure and development of the teeth and masticatory system, together with the specialized vocabulary of dentistry. Designed for the pre-dental students but open to others. Laboratories include observations of dental prosthetic preparations and drawing the individual teeth.

Learning Goals:   Course Learning Goals:At the end of this course the student will be able to:1) Utilize the language of the field of dentistry2) Recognize the anatomy of each tooth and be able to differentiate one tooth from another 3) Describe the anatomy of the temporal mandibular joint and the facial nerves, muscles and blood vessels. 4) Recall the process of formation of teeth and describe how teeth contact against other teeth in the same arch and the opposing arch. This is not a competitive course, grade-wise, as you might find in professional school. If you do not do grade “a” work, then you will be short-changing yourself. If you have any type of disability that you feel could hinder you in this course, resources are available to provide you with help. I am also at school several hours before class starts and would be very happy to help you with your studies.
