Description:

Students will learn the organizational structure and the intricacies of a media production facility. They will master the preparation of field equipment, the scheduling of equipment and editing rooms, and maintenance procedures. Students will become proficient in handling production equipment and will be better prepared to complete media production projects.

Learning Goals:   The Assistantship provides an introduction to techniques and skills required to manage a film/video production facility. This is behind the scenes work but without it no films or videos would be made. While this is a hands-on course, its main purpose is not to provide tutorials on equipment (although this may be a side benefit). The goal is to help you become aware of what is necessary to have reliable equipment and facilities available when students and faculty need them. As you become more proficient and graceful in handling the equipment and systems there will be a corresponding positive impact on your own production work.
