Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

Students will gain skills in new media, including creating web sites, DVD’s and social networking accounts. Students will learn authorship software, while gaining perspective on the effective use of interactivity and non-linear architecture at the service of creating effective media. Students will seek new ways to tell old truths.

Learning Goals:   To develop a thorough understanding of contemporary digital technologies and theirrelationship to economics, politics, social change and you, the user;• To develop a basic understanding of how code works and how websites and applicationsare built;• To establish working competency of how to build and manage your own personal webpresence;• To introduce you to powerful design tools like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and surveyhow to exploit these tools in the service of branding, self-promotion and media messaging;• To establish working competency of how to output your self-produced media content in aweb-browser based environment;• To inspire you to become avid and passionate new media analysts and makers, and familiarwith contemporary new media developments.
