Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

This course introduces students to the digital animation process. Students will learn tools and techniques to create animated characters and storytelling through motion graphics and effects, using such software as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and After Effects.

Learning Goals:   This course introduces students to the digital animation process. Students will learn the fundamental tools and techniques needed to create computer motion graphics and character animation using Adobe After Effects. Students will also learn how to incorporate Illustrator and Photoshop into the motion design process.Learning Goals:1. Gain a solid understanding of the traditional principles of Frame by Frame animation and how they translate to digital animation.2. Understand how to layer these principles to create complex animations.3. Develop an intermediate level understanding of After Effects, while also learning some advanced techniques.4. Understand the Adobe creative cloud animation workflow by utilizing Illustrator and Photoshop files within After Effects.5. Learn how to create animated gifs.6. Learn how to develop an animation from idea to final deliverable.
