By the end of the semester, students are expected to:1. To master the basic grammatical items with another 48 key sentences and to apply them.2. To be able to write short messages in Chinese, such as a note requesting leave.3. To be able to carry out simple Chinese conversation related to the following topics: Make a phone call Ask and explain what someone is doing Give times, dates and days Describe your daily schedule Ask what someone wants and tell someone what you want Present / discuss alternatives Make requests and give permission Expressing wishes, obligation, capabilities, possibilities and opinions Talk about driving a car Ask how much something costs and talk about clothing Extend and accept invitations and talk about birthdays Location and Position. The students will be exposed to cultural information on various aspects of China, along with activities designed to develop students’ reading and writing skills. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
