By the end of the semester, students are expected to: 1. Master another 200 Chinese characters in addition to the 600 characters taught in levels I,II and III. 2. Master another 40 key sentence patterns and to apply them. 3. To be able to write short essays in Chinese. 4. To be able to make interpersonal, interpretive and presentational communications in relation to the following topics: > Past experience/sport activities/plans > Direction and location > Time and location of past events, and the manner in which they have occurred > Looking for a job > Making comments and complaints > Purchasing plane/bus/train tickets > Picking someone up and seeing them off > Living conditions and changes > Incidents > Visiting a patient > Language studies > Citing an example > Expressing one's opinions *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
