Description: |
Students will receive an orientation to the physical sciences and engineering, career opportunities in the field, safety in the laboratory, and the Physics Department as a whole. The course will conclude with an experimental project that introduces students to experimental physics and engineering. |
Learning Goals: |
In the one-credit Physics Orientation Seminar, students will ● become familiar with physics as a major ● learn about future opportunities for physics majors and engineering students OR: in physics and engineering● be immersed into the Physics department, its faculty, and opportunities within the major● develop skills to use scholarship to get appropriate information about physics● learn how to be successful at Adelphi and in a career as a physicist. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
