The main student objective is to become acquainted with the subject matter of the text so as to understand and be able to express coherently (orally and in writing) many aspects of the complex meaning of what America is, how it came to be, as well as to have a sense of the many nations it comprises, their people, their origins, cultures and the languages that contribute to its diverse nature, its development, and current relationship to the rest of the world. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
