Students, including non-majors, explore acting as a theatrical process seen from the actor's perspective. Through personal experience applied to reading plays and other potentially dramatic material, through improvisational exercises, character exploration and the performance of short pieces, the student begins a serious exploration of the actor's craft. 0192-108: BEGINNING ACTINGStudents will:1) learn basic acting terminology and have class discussions about what an actor does, how, why, etc.;2) learn the parts of a stage and theatre;3) study the art of memorizing scenes and monologues;4) get tips on combating stage-fright, gaining confidence, public speaking;5) learn about creating characters, and writing a character back-story; 6) perform scenes from plays, TV shows and films as graded projects;7) learn improvisational acting through exercises and games *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
