Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

In the second year of acting, the student actor begins the application of the actor's technique to the demands of a script. While there is a reinforcement of work done in the first year, the stress is on character development, relationships, and environment. The emphasis is on analysis of text and subject. (Learning Goals:CO;Distribution Reqs:Arts)

Learning Goals:   0192-200: TEXT ANALYSISStudents will:1) build upon what has been learned in the first two semesters of acting study and apply the actor’s techniques to the demands of a script;2) develop his or her understanding of character development, relationships and environment;3) learn to apply this understanding to monologues and scenes;4) deepen their capacity to analyze a script for textual meaning and subtextual content.
