The directing student is introduced to script analysis, directorial concepts, dramaturgy, blocking action, casting and designing the recording book of the production. Consideration is given to the director’s role as a coordinator of all theatre action and design in a production, including budgeting and rehearsal scheduling. (Distribution Reqs:Arts) |

0192-340: RUDIMENTS OF DIRECTINGStudent will:1) be introduced to the process of stage direction and the specific duties of producing a play;2) practice the techniques of script analysis and their use to derive a directorial concept;3) learn such essential and basic techniques as blocking movement and aiding actors to find meaning in their texts;4) learn how to create a production budget, audition procedures and a rehearsal schedule;5) learn how to deal sensitively with design staff, actors and management. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
