Description: |
Continuing with the work of PFA 304, this course concentrates on Shakespearean monologues and scenes to deepen the student's understanding of how to act verse powerfully and truthfully, and continues work done in earlier classes in linking voice and bodily relation to text-based acting choices. (Learning Goals:CO;Distribution Reqs:Arts) |
Learning Goals: |
Students will: 1) practice scanning, imagery analysis and other techniques learned in 0192-304 (Performing Verse Drama) applied to Shakespeare and other Elizabethan/Jacobean playwrights; 2) expand on their knowledge of the Shakespeare canon and other important plays of the period; 3) build up their collection of monologues for classical auditions; 4) continue their training in voice, diction, relaxed bodily usage and 'emotional vowel' work as applied to classical text; 5) explore the relationship between classical performance and psychologically realistic Stanislavskian work. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only. The exact learning goals for each course section in a specific semester will be stated on the syllabus distributed at the start of the semester, and may differ in wording and emphasis from those shown here. |
