Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

Working with the isolation of each dialect's 'signature sounds' and learning the techniques of shifting the focus of speech resonance, students are taught to research, document, rehearse, and develop accents and dialects for stage, animation, recording, or other use, while mastering their own personal vocal instrument. (Learning Goals:CO;Distribution Reqs:Arts)

Learning Goals:   0192-380: STAGE ACCENTS Students will: 1) continue the vocal and diction development begun in earlier years, applying it to the creation and use of four to five selected stage accents; 2) learn the basic techniques of mastering major stage accents, including the location of accent placement, the use of breath, and the dynamics of each accent; 3) develop their accents to a “casting” quality-level; 4) create a small portfolio of accented monologues useful for auditions in the future.
