Description: |
This course explores the impact of community and global health issues on the health of individuals, families and society. Utilizing principles of epidemiology and wellness, the role of the community health nurse to maximize health at all levels of prevention will be explored. A clinical component is provided as part of the course. |

1. Plan and or provide patient centered nursing care that contributes to safe and high quality outcomes.Recognize the dynamic interrelationship between man and environment as determinants of health. Identify health strengths/risks and problems of a crisis situations in families and communities, including disaster management2. Apply critical thinking skills in implementing the nursing process.Relate health statistical data to the diagnosis of community health problems.3. Respect cultural diversity and the uniqueness of all individuals,Explore the cultural patterns of aggregates coping with daily living, stress and crisis situations. Explore and interpret principles of collaboration and negotiation for consumers and providers of health care.4. Apply epidemiologic principles to selected health problems in nursing practice at all three levels of prevention.5.Integrate information literacy to improve patient care outcomes.
