Students explore the new integrated role of the advanced practice psychiatric nurse in the context of health care reform and learn the process of integrating pharmacotherapy with brief therapies. Students analyze elements of the role of therapist.

Learning Goals:   At the completion of the course the student will be able to:1. Describe health care reform and related issues of parity and the role of the PMH-APRN2. Describe contemporary models for psychotherapy3. Analyze the role of the nurse psychotherapist4. Articulate an understanding of the psychotherapy process including supervision5. Analyze ethical and legal issues related to psychotherapy6. Analyze issues related to integrating psychotherapy with the NP role of prescriber
