Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:	Students will study aspects of social setting and human behavior that contribute to the occurrence of public health threats and influence the success of population-level disease prevention and health promotion. Social, behavioral, and cultural theories regarding diagnosis, perceptions of threat, and public health problems are also addressed. (Distribution Reqs:Social Sciences)
Learning Goals:	Explain major factors in the historical development of the U.S. health system.Evaluate the relationships between health care coverage, access, cost and quality and their impact on the U.S. health system. Analyze the role of evidence in shaping health policy. Analyze advanced practice roles in the legislative process, at the local, state and/or national levels. Contrast the positions and interests of advanced practice nurses, health professionals, providers, payers and consumers in advocating for and shaping policy change.Explore strategies relevant to policy development, organizational structures, and/or financing at the local, state, national and international levels.Synthesize the student’s prior knowledge of health care delivery with a broader understanding of U.S. and global health policy *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
