Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

The students will explore management of information systems in healthcare. The student will explore the technical and organizational behaviors unique to improve patient care. The ethics of technology use will be explored as applied to decision making and the consequences of changes through the analysis of case studies.

Learning Goals:   Upon completion of this course, the successful student will be able to:• Evaluate the role of technology in healthcare from the perspective of information creation and use. • Analysis of management information systems implementation and communication. • Analyze MIS resources using case studies and information system paradigms. • Application of technology ethics (privacy and patient confidentiality). • Analysis of Decision Making using Healthcare management tools.• Application of information science and technology to solve health informatics problems. • Knowledge awareness of the value of information literacy and lifelong learning, maintenance of skills, and professional excellence. • Evaluate successful leadership teams that envision goals, set priorities, manage change, make decisions, communicate, serve as a symbol of one who is willing to take risks and has credible expertise, and guide others by motivating other leaders as well as those who will follow.
