This course is designed to introduce students to the world of migration and to provide basic knowledge on the well-being of relocated populations including migrants, immigrants, internally displaced, and stateless peoples. Students will explore the social, economic, and political reasons for relocations across the globe. |
Learning Goals: |
1. Be able to describe the different categories of foreign-born populations;2. Understand the major international and national organizations providing services to foreign-born populations;3. Know the reasons attributed to global relocations;4. Be able to articulate various migration theories and contextualize them to current migration experiences; 5. Understand some of the historical antecedents of modern day U.S immigration policies; and6.
