Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Learning Goals:   Course Objectives and Outcome Measures1. Develop an understanding of psychoanalytic and psychological approaches to film, cultural interpretation and criticism.2. Develop critical and integrative thinking.3. Improve abilities at oral and written communication.4. Improve abilities at understanding artistic productions.5. Increase sensitivity to the human experience – Global CitizenshipStudents will lead a minimum of two discussions and present a final written project which will incorporate the course objectivesGeneral Education Capstone Experience: This capstone course plays a central role in evaluating General Education at Adelphi. There are six goals delineated for the capstone experience which include Communication, Critical and Integrative Thinking, Information Literacy, Global Citizenship, Quantitative Reasoning, and Artistic Understanding and Expression. These learning goals aim to assess the cumulative learning experience of the student acquired throughout their four years of baccalaureate education at Adelphi. This course is not designed to teach these skills, although some may overlap with the course’s goals and objectives. A sample of students’ performance in this course will be assessed by the General Education Assessment Committee. As such, students are expected to submit two copies of all their assignments related to the final project (an electronic and a hard copy of assignment). The committee’s assessment will not affect student’s grade in the course.
