Learning Goals: |
The goal of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the major theories of psychosocial and cognitive functioning, of childhood behavioral disorders, and of treatment considerations in working with children. This course will primarily examine ADHD, Disruptive Childhood disorders, trauma (PTSD) and its behavioral consequences, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, which are the frequently diagnosed disorders in children and adolescents, as well as the primary causes for referrals to mental health clinics. These disorders are also the most financially costly and disruptive to the lives of the children that they impact. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only. The exact learning goals for each course section in a specific semester will be stated on the syllabus distributed at the start of the semester, and may differ in wording and emphasis from those shown here. |
