Students will achieve competency in the critical evaluation of research; conducting and using research in applied settings; ethics and professional standards in research. This course will expose students to key concepts and contemporary research seminal to both the understanding and investigation of psychopathology, psychotherapy process/outcome, program evaluation and psychological assessment. |
Learning Goals: |
1) Students will achieve a working proficiency in various aspects of applied research designs. In addition, students will be expected to utilize this methodological knowledge in relation to the development of research plans to assess manifestations of psychopathology, psychotherapy process/outcome, program evaluation and psychological assessment.2) Students will learn about key concepts and contemporary research seminal to an understanding of the effective practice of psychotherapy and psychological assessment.3) Students will be able to demonstrate/communicate this understanding of applied clinical research methodology, key conceptual issues and contemporary research in written and oral formats. 4) Students will achieve competency in the domain of RESEARCH & EVALUATION indicative of mid-level (externship) training in a Ph.D. program for the knowledge, skill and attitude areas of: Critical Evaluation of Research; Conducting and Using Research in Applied Settings; & Ethics and Professional Competence. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
