An overview of neuropsychological theory, within the context of biological bases behaviors, as this pertains to school psychological practice will be presented. The application of neuropsychological practice to the assessment of common childhood disorders and the implications for interventions will be addressed. |
Learning Goals: |
The goal of this course is to present an overview of neuropsychological theory and practice as it pertains to the role of the school psychologist. Students will learn: (1) the foundations of school neuropsychological practice (2) the structure and functioning of the brain and its relationship to learning and behavior in children (3) the implications of neuropsychological theory to classroom functioning (4) the neuropsychological foundations of childhood disorders/conditions such as Seizure disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, Brain Tumors and Malformations, environmental toxin exposure, and others. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
