| Description: |
Students are introduced to school consultation. The overarching goals of this course are to prepare future school psychologists to help teachers and other school personnel address more effectively the learning, behavioral and adjustment needs of students they serve and also, the needs of their parents. |
| Learning Goals: |
Upon course completion students will:1. Demonstrate knowledge of:• History of consultation• Theories of consultation, accompanying models and underlying principles• Process of consultation and impacting variables• Multicultural, ethical, and legal considerations• Ones own skill set and value system as it relates to consultation2. Demonstrate skills in:• Application of theoretical models to specific situations• Effective communication, rapport building and problem solving• Conducting a consultation in an applied setting• Evaluating the effectiveness of the consultation• Presenting on a specialized topic *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
