Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

Be provided with a fieldwork placement to complete supervised observation hours. (Learning Goals: )

Learning Goals:   Scholarship1. demonstrate the ability to assess a students prior subject knowledge and current subject knowledge in relation to health content areas such as: sexuality education, chronic and communicable diseases, puberty, HIV/AIDS, tobacco, alcohol, other drugs, nutrition, physical fitness, anorexia, bulimia, mental health, and health behaviors. 2. analyze their current school placement demographics, curriculum, and needs assessment relevant to the students they will be teachingReflective Practice3. create and conduct lessons that integrate multiple intelligences4. present lessons that allow cooperative learning and interpersonal communication regarding health topics amongst the students5. identify and cite national and New York State learning standards relevant to learning experiences6. provide the ability for the student to integrate their home life into their health beliefs and skills by providing caretaker homework7. demonstrate the ability to capitalize on technology to enhance health education8. utilize motivational teaching strategies to introduce new health topics that are age-appropriate and capture the students interest Inclusive Community9. through peer educations, have students demonstrate skills and techniques that are modified to be culturally and family sensitive within the health education program 10. discuss the efficacy of incorporating health education and societal issues such as: peer pressure, living environment, family dynamics, prejudice, bias, and socioeconomic statusWellness11. create lesson plans that incorporate holistic health and how each health dimension is related to one another12. identify risk and prevention factors within the body of lessons, teaching strategies, and learning materialsCreativity13. create lesson plans that not only involve hands-on learning but minds-on learning (skill-based) through creative and imaginative ways to include all students in their class and enhance learning
