Description: |
Students will become proficient in meeting the needs of most emergency situations when temporary first aid is needed and in preforming CPR or using an AED on adults, children, and infants. Students will earn American Red Cross Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. |
Learning Goals: |
1. Control an accident scene to prevent further injury.2. Gain access to victims in the easiest and safest ways possible3. Open a victim’s airway.4. Perform rescue breathing for an Adult/Child/Infant5. Perform Adult/Child/Infant CPR.6. Control bleeding by direct pressure, elevation, pressure points, and tourniquets.7. Perform basic dressing and bandaging techniques.8. Detect and care for Shock.9. Detect and care for soft-tissue and internal injuries.10.
