Description: |
Students are introduced to foundations for teaching net and racquet sports such as volleyball, tennis, badminton and pickleball. Topics include selecting and teaching skills and skill progressions, game modifications, instructional cues, feedback, strategies for inclusion, and assessment for Pre-K through high school students of varying abilities |
Learning Goals: |
Objectives:• Identify the critical components of tennis skills.• Demonstrate performance competency in fundamental tennis skills.• Develop pedagogical content knowledge related to basic tennis skill education.• Demonstrate an ability to TEACH tennis skills and tactics to students of variousage levels and abilities (scholarship)• Identify and define health related and skill related components of fitness.• Identify and describe techniques that promote cooperative and interpersonalcommunication skills and the application of social responsibilities.• Observe, analyze and provide corrective feedback regarding motor skillperformance and tactical applications.• Students will successfully meet the requirements for attendance, classparticipation, class group work and notebook to reflectively teach a physicaleducation class. *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
