Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

This course will allow for practical teaching experiences and promote reflective practice. This course will be taught in conjunction with 0852-525. Initial seminars will focus on placements and clarifying the responsibilities of the students. Students will complete tasks and assignments associated with planning, evaluating and assessing teaching secondary physical education.

Learning Goals:   Students will be able to identify resources to increase their knowledge and understanding of issues associated with physical education.Students will be able to assess their own teaching behaviors and identify their strengths and weaknesses. Students will develop lesson plans that will highlight the value and importance of physical activity and fitness within each of the three learning domains – psychomotor, cognitive, and affective. Students will discuss and develop activities using various teaching styles including peer teaching and problem solving. Students will display creativity and artistic ability in developing visual aids and task sheets to accompany their peer teaching episodes.
