Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

Overview of applications and software relative to teaching health and physical education. Includes portfolio development, Excel, Power Point, Fitnessgram, heart rate monitors, nutrition analysis, and links to teaching curricula.

Learning Goals:   This course is designed to prepare the student, who attend, for the technology they will need to work with in their careers. This course exposes student to technology like website design to use for posting information online. The student will also gain experience working with all of the Microsoft Office 2010 Products extensively. Student will be given projects to complete involving business tasks like mail merging, business document production, database creation and management, spreadsheet creation and formula creation and analysis.School of Education Core Values:Scholarship: Through homework and in-class assignments students develop a critical knowledge of sport in relation to culture and identity (NASPE 1.1)Reflective Practice: Through in-class and homework assignment students develop and demonstrate self-awareness of and empathy for responsible personal behavior in sports participation, coaching, and physical activity. (NASPE 1.1, 1.3, 2.2)Wellness: Through in-class assignments on steroids, violence and cosmetic fitness students understand the social pressures against wellness present in commercialized sport/physical activity, and how to counter these pressures.
