Courses may be offered in one of the following modalities:

  • Traditional in-person courses (0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online, the majority being offered in person.)
  • Hybrid/blended courses (30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.)
  • Online courses (100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.)
  • Hyflex (Students will be assigned to attend in-person or live streamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.)

If you are enrolled in courses delivered in traditional or hybrid modalities, you will be expected to attend face-to-face instruction as scheduled.

Description:

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the clinical process in speech-language pathology and audiology. Students will observe and reflect on 25 clock hours of diagnostic and therapy services.

Learning Goals:   Course Goals: At the completion of this course, students will1. have a basic understanding of the organization of the Hy Weinberg Center and practica requirements for certification;2. understand the nature of the assessment and intervention process;3. develop critical observation skills commensurate with theoretical knowledge to date;4. understand the components of the therapeutic process;5. gain knowledge of therapeutic-specific skills; and6. accrue a minimum of 25 hours of observations of speech and language services according to the requirements of ASHA Notes and Pre-requisitesFor majors onlyPre-requisite(s): 0876*144
